Graduate School Continuing Fellowships

These awards are made to students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program at The University of Texas (UT).  Graduate advisers submit nominations to the Graduate School. Faculty review committees which evaluate the applications emphasize accomplishments since entering Graduate School.

Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at UT. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Financial need will be considered. Most disciplines.

Application Deadline: January 22, 2010

2010-2011 Stipend:
$18,000 (9 months). In addition, up to $1119 supplement for medical insurance and up to $3566 per long semester toward tuition and fees.
Generally 80-90 awards are made annually.

Graduate School Fellowships

These awards are made to students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program at UT. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Currently enrolled at UT.  Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Financial need will be considered. Most disciplines.

Application Deadline: January 22, 2010

2010-2011 Stipend:
$3000 applied towards tuition and fees, or receive a cash award for both fall and spring semesters. This award entitles a student to pay tuition and fees at in-state rates for the fall, spring, and summer semesters.


David Bruton, Jr. Graduate School Fellowship

The Bruton Student Endowment Fellowships were established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents for the benefit of The University of Texas at Austin in September 1991.

Eligibility:

Students nominated for Continuing Fellowships will be considered for this award. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation.

Application Deadline: January 22, 2010

Stipend:
The stipend is $1,000. This award entitles a student to pay tuition and fees at in-state rates for the fall, spring, and summer semesters.


Cullen Trust Student Endowment Fellowships

The Cullen Trust Student Endowment Fellowships were established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents for the benefit of The University of Texas at Austin on August 13, 1992. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at UT. Recipients may be of any academic major. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Most disciplines.

$19,000 (9 months). In addition, a $1119 supplement for medical insurance and up to $3566 per long semester toward tuition and fees.


Bess Heflin Fellowship

Miss Bess Heflin, long time professor of Home Economics at UT Austin, provided to the university funds to support a graduate fellowship in the biological or social sciences. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at UT.  Awardees will be selected in one of the following programs: Plant Biology or Botany, Nutrition, Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior, Economics, Zoology, History, Microbiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Government, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Biological Sciences, or Geography. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation.

Hemphill-Gilmore Fellowships

The Hemphill-Gilmore Student Endowment Fellowships were established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents for the benefit of The University of Texas at Austin in August 1993. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Houston Endowment President's Excellence Scholarships

The Houston Endowment President's Excellence Scholarships were established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents for benefit of The University of Texas at Austin in June 1993. Graduate Advisers have the vital role of identifying and nominating eligible students.  Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at UT. Each year the Dean of Graduate Studies will specify the field or fields in which awards will be made. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation.

A. D. Hutchison Student Endowment Fellowships

The A. D. Hutchison Student Endowment Fund was established by The University of Texas System Board of Regents for the benefit of The University of Texas at Austin on August 13, 1992. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

William S. Livingston Graduate Fellowship

The Livingston Fellowship program was established in January 1995, in honor of William S. Livingston, Professor of Government and longtime Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. The program is intended to provide recognition and financial support to outstanding graduate students at the university. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Eligibility:
Livingston Fellowships will be awarded to graduate students in residence at the university. There is no restriction on the fields of study. Awards are based on major accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Any discipline.

$20,000 for nine months. In addition, a $1119 supplement for medical insurance and up to $3566 per long semester toward tuition and fees.


W. Gordon Whaley Fellowship

The UT System Board of Regents established this fellowship in early 1990. It was made possible through an endowment from Mrs. Gordon Whaley in memory of her husband, W. Gordon Whaley, Dean of the Graduate School from 1957 to 1972. The recipient may come from any area of doctoral study offered by the university. Students nominated for the Continuing Fellowship will be considered for this award.

Currently enrolled at UT. Award is based on accomplishments since entering Graduate School, a well-defined program of research, strong personal statement, and letters of recommendations. Any discipline.
